Amanda Costilla - Secretary
Ms. Costilla has volunteered her time for the past year serving El Arco Iris in various administrative capacities. She was born in St. Paul and still lives in the capitol city along with her young son where they enjoy participating in local arts-based activities. Amanda is passionate about cultural education and spends much of her free time reading and composing creative writing pieces with her son. Ms. Costilla has seen first hand how El Arco Iris’ programs positively influence the students and parents that participate in the school’s arts-based curriculum. Amanda hopes that future generations have access and exposure to El Arco Iris’ programs as it will help them grow and become model citizens.

Betty Caban – Vice Chairperson
Mrs. Caban has volunteered at El Arco Iris for over a decade. She has been instrumental in the organization’s success over the years. In addition to managing EAI’s operations, Betty also manages the organizations strategic alliances. Betty has championed dozens of arts-based events and initiatives which have helped EAI disseminate its curriculum to many Metro Minnesota communities.
Jose A. Caban - Chairperson
Mr. Caban wears many hats and is considered one of Metro Minnesota’s prominent Latino leaders. Jose has been an entrepreneur for over 25 years and is currently president and owner of Caban Construction, LLC. Jose’s three children have grown up with El Arco Iris and continue to give back to the organization in various capacities. Mr. Caban is passionate about promoting and preserving Afro-Caribbean and Latino culture through artistic programming. His first roles with the organization were as a parent volunteer and fundraising coordinator. Mr. Caban has been instrumental in coordinating out-of-state events for our students including the 2006 Bomplenazo conference in New York City. We are fortunate to have Jose's leadership, passions, and business acumen to help guide us through very challenging economic times.
Sherry Daugherty – Treasurer
Ms. Daugherty is the newest member of the EAI family but she brings many years of accounting and non-profit experience with her. Sherry currently works for ABC Tax Services in St Paul and enjoys the Twin Cities arts scene and is giving back by volunteering her time as EAI’s treasurer.
Maria I. Perez – Artistic Director
Ms. Perez is the daughter of one of El Arco Iris’ founders and has been involved with the organization since its inception in 1993. Maria’s artistic background has been significantly influenced by EAI’s curriculum and today she is one of the better-know Latina artists in the Midwest. Having trained in Puerto Rico, Chicago, and New York, Ms. Perez brings a plethora of artistic experiences for our students to explore.
